Cycling the Atlantic Coast from Wilmington, NC to Jacksonville, FL

Cycle from Wilmington, NC to Jacksonville Beach in 7 days on the bike, plus 2 travel days, for nearly 500 miles of ocean views and country roads. Your luggage will be transported from hotel to hotel, so you can enjoy the scenery unencumbered by extra weight on your bike. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before rolling down the coastline. The path will follow some of the East Coast Greenway trail.

Sunday, October 20, 2024 - The adventure begins after breakfast with pictures at Wilmington Beach before rolling south. The route includes a ferry ride. - 38 miles

Lodging: Holiday Inn Express & Suites Southport - Oak Island Area

Monday, October 21 , 2024 - As we pedal east and slightly south, we will avoid the traffic in Myrtle Beach, and enjoy a very flat route. - 62 miles

Lodging: Sure Stay by Best Western

Tuesday, October 22, 2024 - Country roads take us south through the Francis Marion National Forest. It will be a long, flat day in the saddle, but so worth the effort. - 107 miles

Lodging: Holiday Inn Express & Suites Summerville

Wednesday, October 23, 2024 - As we make our way around the outskirts of Charleston, SC we will begin heading south towards the coast. - 68 miles

Lodging: Hampton Inn Yemassee/Point South

Thursday, October 24, 2024 - Rolling south, we will head around Savannah, GA and hug the coast. - 67 miles

Lodging: Best Western Richmond Hill

Friday, October 25, 2024 - Feel the warmth of the sun as we continue to roll south on this very flat route. - 99 miles

Lodging: Best Western Plus Kingsland

Saturday, October 26, 2024 - Our last day of riding! We will head east to the coast with a short ferry ride to dip our feet in the sand and Atlantic Ocean. - 51 miles

Sunday, October 27, 2024 - Drive back to Lancaster!

Pine Creek Trail - Cycling

Bike through the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon on the Pine Creek Trail as it winds though the Tiaoga State Forest. Most of the trail follows the Pine Creek which affords views of rock outcroppings and wildlife. Complete a section or all 62 miles of the trail.

Great Allegheny Passage - Cycling

Begin in Pittsburgh, PA and bike on the wide, stone path following the Monongahela River as it winds its way through the Pennsylvania countryside. Cycle through many small towns where there is ample opportunity for food and beverage stops. A thrilling finish begins at the Eastern Continental Divide and continues for 25 miles of downhill coasting to the town of Cumberland, Maryland. Bike a total of 150 miles over 4 days.

Washington DC to Pittsburgh - Cycling

Follow the C&O Canal trail from mile marker 0 at the Thompson Boat Center to Cumberland, MD. Then transfer to the "super-highway" of biking trails, the Great Allegheny Passage, which leads you directly into downtown Pittsburgh and stops at Point State Park. Complete 334 miles over 6 days and cross bridges, ride through tunnels, around dams, and experience the history of the old canal.
